Day 1, Track 5

Hello and welcome to Track 5 of ReMoPodMo!

In case you’re not sure what to do, here’s a quick reminder:

*Just reply to this post stating your minutes. You can tell us as much or as little about how you spent that time. It’s up to you (but we do love to know what you’re up to. What can I say, we’re a tad nosy)!

* Feel free to comment on other people’s check-ins!

* You can use both the Livejournal and Dreamwidth posts. We’ll always link to them in the check-in posts.

* Have fun!

15 minutes! 6 minutes to get mic out of packaging, 2 minutes to set it up with Garageband, 1 minute wasted talking into the mic because I hit the wrong button and it wasn't recording, 2 minutes actually recording, and 2 minutes listening.

Um, now I have a couple questions. 1. Someone mentioned the last time I attempted recording that there was a way to make it sound less like I was recording in a tin can. Any hints? It already sounds much better. I'm using podcast mode with female voice in Garageband.

Ok, more questions later. Probably every day I'll have a question:D Apparently this was just the kick I needed to get started. Let's hope my cold goes away so I can start recording for reals soon.

Right, okay!

12 minutes recording, then I spent 16 minutes listening and editing that down to 8 minutes of finished draft. And with that, I'm done with my hour-long part of that podfic! \o/ It's a collaboration, though, so there will be more editing and stuff.

Recorded 6 minutes of a new podfic, then spent 8 minutes listening and editing that down to 4 and a half minutes. (And yes, these are my usual ratios between editing and finished podfic draft. I'm a fast editor, I suppose...)

I loved the contrast between the two podfics I recorded--the first one is kind of laid-back and thoughtful yet also vulgar. So lots of saying "fuck"--a listener once told me I have a sexy way of saying fuck. *g* And the second is much more tense, with more action and a fair amount of anger, making me read faster and more staccato. I just love switching between different styles like that--it keeps me from feeling like I'm getting stuck in a rut.

Total time spent on podficcing: 42 minutes (and I only committed to 10, but there will be days when I can't do any, so).

31m of editing! I finished one podfic, now I just need to decide under which pseud to post what will surely be the most filthy podfic I will ever record. Possibly. Maybe. Unless Dodie has something to say about it. :D

Haha, this entire week is probably going to be a write-off for me. I have no voice and nothing to edit. Wah waaah.

Yay! I managed 20 minutes of beta-listening (and laughing like a loon) to a finished pod of mine and editing a work-in-progress. \o/

The girls in my dorm decided to be loud today, so I couldn't record.

30 mins spent reading and re-reading my projects.

I spent half an hour recording something I really shouldn't be working on right now, but an hour and a half editing something I really should be, so I think it evened out :D I also went searching for sound effects for the first pod and it took like half an hour to drag myself back out again, but that doesn't really count.

I recorded a short (~21minutes raw) podfic off my to-do list because I opened up the 80K word monster & lost the will to live... I'm editing it now & will post tonight! Well over an hour editing, so I'm good on minutes!

30 minutes of recording today. I'm not sure yet if they will be 30 minutes I keep or if this is a practice run. But still!

Didn't manage any recording yesterday, but I spent an hour looking for something to podfic. On the plus side, I found a fic! Now I just need to ask permission...

I did 23 minutes of recording on a major WIP, and then 7 minutes of editing on that same project...

...and then I got a "Hey, last call! We need your lines for this project by this weekend!" note (the first note I've gotten from these project leaders, holy shit), and spent an hour recording lines, editing, and mailing the lines to the project leaders. (These are people who are trying to record a 28-person, 80,000-word podfic... without coordinating via email. Somehow. They're (perhaps this is already obvious) not in podfic fandom!)

So I'm an hour up, amazingly, but I'm not going to consider myself ahead!

10 minutes re-reading part of my biggest project and annotating the file for reading notes.
